Matches
When the Under 10’s play matches they play cross-ice. Cross-ice is like a mini Ice Hockey game spanning the width of the rink, rather than the length.
With the reduced rinks size, for cross-ice games, players are able to focus on their skating skills and means they are frequently in possession of the puck.
Games are usually 4 vs 4 with a Netminder that last 22 minutes and 30 seconds, on a running clock, with players changing on the buzzer every 90 seconds.
Scores are not registered in any Under 10’s matches. The aim of these matches is for the team to continue to develop their skating skills and apply the skills they have learnt, develop their love of ice hockey and to have fun.
Training Times
Training times will alternate between weeks A and B. Please check with your manager for your training times.
Warm up sessions start 30 minutes before your on-ice time and last 15 minutes.

U10’s Off Ice Training
We have put an Off-Ice Training programme together for MK Storm U10’s with supporting videos from Hockey Training.com. The video links shared through out our training programme are to show you and your child how to do the moves correctly. Accuracy is the key when learning a new skill/technique.
Please ensure that your child is careful whilst learning the movements and using their body in different ways.
Some children will be able to pick them up quickly and others will take time to develop them.
There is no rush or expectation that all children will be able to do all of this.
By the end of the Season the children moving up to the U12’s should be familiar with these and able to achieve them with ease. For our younger players, it is about trying something new, using different parts of their bodies and developing strength at their own pace.
