MK Junior Club is Founded

The junior club was launched under the guidance of MK Kings senior coach, Mike Sirant.
Our very first game was against Aldershot – a tough 28–0 loss, but the beginning of something bigger.

Growth Begins

Within a year, the club had grown to three teams, all registered in the Midland Conference.

Rink Closure Sparks Action

The Bladerunner Arena closed its doors, threatening the club’s future.
In response, the junior club formed a company to keep the rink alive and protect the sport in Milton Keynes.

Homeless But Not Hopeless

Bladerunner Arena closed for good.
Undeterred, the club continued training in Stevenage and Haringey, refusing to let local ice hockey fade away.

Home Once Again

The rink reopened, and MK’s junior players returned stronger than ever.

Southern A League Promotions

All age groups were promoted to the Southern A League, marking a major leap in development.

First league title

The club celebrated its first-ever league championship, won by the U16A team.

A New Era: MK Storm

The club dropped the “Junior Kings” name and became MK Storm, beginning a new chapter.

Preparation (Mind & Body)

Under Director of Coaching Nick Poole, the club embraced an inclusive “Hockey for All” philosophy.
At its peak, the club fielded:

  • 5 A league teams
  • 2 B league teams
  • A thriving Development Squad

Rink Refurbishment: No Pause, No Problem

When the rink closed for renovation, MK Storm didn’t stop.
The club trained in Coventry, then returned to MKICE to finish the season – determined to stay together.
