MKJIHC Safeguarding

Milton Keynes Junior Ice Hockey Club is committed to the safeguarding and well‐being of all its members.

Safeguarding must not be seen in isolation and is an integral consideration of all aspects of running and managing our club. This includes leadership, planning, scheduling, coaching and managing.

All of our coaches, managers and off-ice officials hold a Disclosure & Barring System ‘DBS’ certificate.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Jo Merrick, has responsibility for all matters relating to safeguarding within the club.

The DSL is the first point of contact for anyone associated with or working with the club (club committee, team staff, parents or players) who have a concern about a child or adult involved with the club.

Some of the responsibilities:

  • To ensure the club adheres to Safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • To raise of awareness of safeguarding within the club.
  • Is a source of advice and information for adult members.
  • Will liaise with English Ice Hockey (EIH) Safeguarding team and other services such as the
  • police and children’s services as appropriate.
  • Will process necessary DBS checks and references as appropriate.

If you would like to contact the club in relation to any of the above items you can contact us via email dsl@mkjihc.co.uk.

How to apply for and complete your DBS

In this email please outline

  • Your full name

  • Email address

02

Vibrant nations

Once your email has been recieved the DSL will set up an account on Vibrant Nation.

You will then recieve an email link which you need to access and complete the full application form which will require you to input your personal information.

Once verified this will be added by the DSL to your Vibrant nation account to complete the final step of your DBS
